Async client messaging that respects coach time
Grove gives you a per-client messaging thread for the moments between sessions when something cannot wait until the next call. Your client writes when they need you, you respond on your own schedule. No 9pm pings, no Instagram DMs to lose track of, no real-time pressure.
Apply to early access →Most between-session messaging happens across iMessage, Voxer, Instagram DMs, and email, scattered across four apps and three accounts. Half of it never gets archived into the client's record. The other half becomes a sleep-eroding obligation, because clients who can text you any time will. Grove keeps the messaging inside the coaching relationship and inside your work hours, with every thread attached to the client's record.
How Grove handles messaging
- A messaging thread per client. Not a real-time chat, not a 9pm Voxer ping.
- You see new messages in your morning dashboard, alongside check-ins and habit data.
- No notifications to your phone unless you opt in.
- Threads attach to the client timeline so messages and session notes live together.
Async messaging is most valuable for health coaches and wellness coaches who want to stay reachable between sessions without surrendering their evenings.
Common questions
Does this replace Voxer or texting?
It can, if you want it to. We built Grove messaging because Voxer and texting blur the line between coaching and being on-call. The messaging thread lives inside Grove, attached to the client, with no real-time push pressure. Coaches who used to give clients their phone number have moved their between-session contact into Grove specifically to reclaim their evenings.
Will I get notifications at 9pm when a client messages?
Not by default. Grove surfaces new messages in your morning dashboard alongside the rest of your roster activity. You can opt into push notifications if you want them, but the default is asynchronous: your client writes when they need to, you respond when you sit down with your morning coffee.
Can clients send photos or voice notes?
Text messaging is shipped today. Photo and voice note support is on the roadmap. If your practice depends on photo or voice, email hello@grove.coach so we know to prioritize it.
Are messages private to me and the client?
Yes. Each coach's client data is isolated to their organization. Messages live in your private thread with that client and are never shared across coaches, even within the same practice. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.
